This is a rough morning requiring a quick jaunt to Top Pot across the street to grab a donut and coffee. I felt the oncoming headache and my tiredness was overwhelming. I had very sad ride replaying and processing the things that had transpired the night before. I miss my kids very deeply. Helen asked me to lay down with her and gave me her goofy smile. It was very cute. I obliged her for a few moments before getting up and leaving for work. I patted Henry on the head and drew the heavier comforter over him. He was sound asleep.
We watched a movie last night called Zwartboek (Black Book) which is a Dutch film about German occupied Holland; a story of Jews, the resistance, and everyone's effort to survive. I found it to be in the same spirit as other European attempts to share snapshots of respective experiences in the war and it was quite good. I would assign this 4 out of 5 or 8 out of 10.
Let me say that I had high hopes for Repo: The Genetic Opera. I am not afraid of musicals, I love gothic themes, and it seemed to be right on track for instant cult classic. Unfortunately, the seemingly endless bad writing is only sparsely sprinkled with some memorable gems. And although the graphic goriness isn't my cup of tea, I stomached it hoping for some sense of story that wasn't as shallow as the Saw series who shares in having the same producer.

One of the few memorable scenes involved the movie's narrator/grave robber (Terrance Zdunich), Paris Hilton's character Amber Sweet, and the innocent Shilo Wallace played by Alexa Vega in which the grave robber was sharing his recently acquired drugs that he extracted from the dead.
There is something magical about Nazi Snow Zombies.
I recently saw the latest Indiana Jones movie. After a two decade hiatus, this last version is sure to be a fun thrill. On the cheap-o-meter, I’d say it’s worth a matinée fare price for those that want to see an action movie but perhaps only the cost of a rental for those that are purist to the original movies.
I don’t want to spoil things so continue only if you want to read some spoilers. Well, pretty much the entire synopsis.
Yes, I am so excited I want to cry:
OMG about damn time Poles made a movie about Katyń:
Whoa, it looks like another potential "go out a buy the DVD" set of movies:
BTW, Michael Clayton was a fairly intriguing movie but the soundtrack was pretty darn good too.
Last night was some crazy rain. The drive home was scary actually. I think I hydroplaned three times. It was a back and forth struggle with the semi trucks which seemed to want to maximize their dispersement of water over the roadway: misting it across everyone's windshields. Traffic is getting unbearable as Christmas approaches. Crystal left work at five and got home at eight.
I am going to have to get a look around and see if I can find some programming contract work to do from home on the side. There are a few positions like this paying well, part time, on Craig's List. I would rather spend my off time relaxing but if I need to work more to make our family work out; that is the price. The places I am looking at suggest that they are very flexible and are exclusively tele-commuting which would be perfect. We'd probably rearrange our house to make the bedroom an office so I can shut myself in there and work.
Our prepayment penalty on the mortgage goes away in the early part of January. We wanted to sell but with house prices coming down, we thought it might be better to stick it out or rent the place out. Our new baby will be here in June so we need to figure all this out by then. I would really like it if Crystal didn't have to work.
ZOMG what a fantastic find. I love independent film especially when I get to see stuff that the big studios tend to avoid. Don't get me wrong. I like big studio stuff as well but often times its more revenue driven rather than artistic development. Anyway, here's a movie called Walk All Over Me. It should be out on DVD soon but it looks interesting.
I got to revisit my heritage in a three hour "Good Soldier Schweik" marathon. I had ordered it from Amazon a couple weeks ago paying for it using a rebate card from Cingular. It was a fantastic blast from the past. It reminds me so much of my youth and the people I grew up around especially during the many summers I spent in Czechoslovakia (and later the Czech Republic). It was wonderful to hear the Czech language and the few dialects spoken in the movie. I have often wondered how accurate the costuming is in that movie. Filmed int he early fifties, it seems to do a great job adhering to the World War I period in Eastern Europe. My goal is to get a few more of these classics and newer movies where you can view them without the subtitles.
Along with that movie I got Lisa Lashes' latest release titled "Euphoria: Lashed Euphoria". I am a total fan boy when it comes to Lisa Lashes. This release is a bit more aggressive than her previously disappointing album titled "Lashed". It was a good mix of house but not the dirty, sexy hard house I have come to expect of her; a need fulfilled by the Euphoria album I just got.
