Flicka.mobi Goes Live

Flicka - Flickr + Android

We've (Koa + me = MokaSocial, LLC) finally pushed out Flicka.mobi the official portal to Flicka, our Flickr application for the Android platform! It will bring all the free functionality of the Flickr website and add tons of integration into the mobile platform. We're hoping to be able to launch the actual application by the beginning of Q2 this year. We'll see.

The page kind of tells you about the release and stuff but here are all the links:

It's been one frantic push to get the code base stabilized and things to a place where we can finally start talking about it. There isn't much about the Google Android SDK on the web so that's probably the biggest challenge. Also, the Java library we're using for our interactions doesn't seem to have everything.

Anyway, it's been a wonderful dive into Java and I've been thoroughly enjoying it. We're hoping it's a successful mobile platform application; one in a series of many increasingly complex and sexy!

Special thanks to those that have been helping. The organization, insight, and comradeship has been awesome!

Merry Christmas 2009

Hey everyone: Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

Just finished up Eve dinner with Jerry and Jeanine. It was great. Everything tasted fantastic. Henry had apparently the "best Christmas ever" when he discovered a remote control daddy car (Ford Mustang). Thanks guys, you are cooler than his own parents! :p

Tomorrow will be morning at our place, my folks after, and Crystal's family after that until around nine. Oh dear. I can't wait until the weekend!

:)

New Cell Number

Hey everyone, I've got a new cell number. My old one went to my "sister-in-law". Shoot me an e-mail for the new number.

Helen loves to make a mess of her food. It can be fun to watch until you realize that all that spaghetti on the floor is going to require a steam cleaner and some powerful solvents. Her personality is filling in. She'll sit there and growl in the car and laugh and smile as we growl back at her. She isn't talking yet but she definitely understands what we're saying to her. "Helen, go get your shoes" and she'll come back with a shoe. "Go get your other shoe" and she'll go get the matching shoe. Things like that.

She's teething and another tooth has finally made its way into her jaw. Poor baby I can't imagine (and luckily remember) the pain! Her personality is so cute and I am going to struggle not doing everything and anything my little girl wants!

Henry is funny, curious, excitable, and wonderful. He loves trains. I know, I know... where does he get that? :) He eats at the table and gets upset when he makes a mess. He loves to do things on his own but will ask for help if a few attempts fail. He constantly asks if eating something will make him bigger. What an opportunity to encourage healthy eating!

Henry is a good boy who is sometimes a little defiant. It's normal at this age. Most of the time he obeys but if ever there is trouble just kneel to his level and explain the situation. He'll understand.

I wanted to mention that the Element has been a great car when you have one kid. Two has its inconvenient moment because it only seats four. Yep, it's a fairly large vehicle to only seat four. Anytime we want to give someone a ride or take nanna with us; we can't (or shouldn't). So what are we going to do now that we need five seats for our family? I am probably going to have to fix up the ol' Mercedes. It will seat five comfortably. With gas mileage being horrible it'll be our weekend excursion car. Now where did I set that repair manual?

Yes, you read that right. I didn't believe it at first but it is true. Yep, we've done it again. Them little swimmers are potent! We're super excited, a little scared, and looking forward to having our third child. Henry is already talking about wanting all the babies and how he wants a baby brother. It's so awesome to have a growing family.

So, yeah. A crazy month.

One Down

The title gets released to me July 29th. I paid a car off. It felt good to send in that final payoff payment! Yeah! And they thought they'd get another year's worth of interest out of me.

Mustang

Somehow I feel more anxious because it's really mine. With proper care and maintenance I should have this one for a while. To celebrate I am going to replace the headlights. The current ones have old plastic that is weathered and yellow.

hradek.kicks-ass.net

Just because I can, I'm administrating a FTP server from home. It's also known as hradek.hobby-site.com. It was getting frustrating having no real share location outside of making files/directories sharable on our machines at home. What an excuse to run another computer in a dark corner of the house! I think I will also run a Freenet node and perhaps a web server.

Yeah, ok, I'm totally geekin' out. :)

You can see the graphs and other fun activities at the NOAA site.

Next time someone complains about the Snow Apocalypse I am going to punch them in the ear. Getting stuck at home/work/whatever is not an apocalypse.

UPDATE: 18:00 Hey, that's us!
UPDATE: Next day, morning. All clear as far as we're concerned. The water reach 29.55 feet; just half a foot from flooding.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone. May all your family and friends prosper another year. May the next year bring you more joy and happiness (and all the other cursory well wishing).

I give you a gift in the form of an MP3 file titled "Henry's Christmas Special 2008".

Some Updates

I've decided to update the site a bit. After attempting to update my b2evolution install using Fantasico (which I think I might start calling Craptastico) everything broke. It's one of the reasons I was using those pre-made skins because I used it to update my previously outdated install and it broke my custom gray FMH skin.

Anyway, enough of that. I did everything manually. Now everything works fine and I am using the latest stable build. I also went through and cleaned up some of the pages and moved the gallery to use the Gallery2 application. Eventually I would like to have subsections dedicated to certain things like code, etc.
